Lake Placid Touch-a-Truck 2010
The Lake Placid Child Care Committee (LPCCC) held it's annual
touch-a-truck event at the Lake Placid Horse Show Grounds on Saturday,
May 22. The event is a fund raiser for the LPCCC and was sponsored by
the Lake Placid Kiwanis Club. The proceeds of the event went to the
After School Program which is a non-profit organization that provides
care for elementary students after school.
This event provides all attendees a chance to learn about area emergency
vehicles, construction vehicles and other various vehicles. The kids
(and adults) were able to honk the horns, sit in the seats, and play
with several buttons and levers equipped in the trucks.
The Lake Placid Police Department provided a patrol unit as one of the
22 vehicles that participated in the event. In addition to the Lake
Placid Police Department patrol vehicle, vehicles were provided from the
Lake Placid Ambulance Service, The Lake Placid Fire Department, The The
Essex County Sheriff's Department and vehicles from the area public
works departments as well as privately owned vehicles.
